It is homecoming in a town in Texas. What does that mean? Obscenely large mums, and 5 days of activities to celebrate till the game day on Friday.
I have not lived in my little town for 20 years, and many things have changed since I celebrated homecoming here. There is no longer a bonfire. What is this about? I will always remember the band, cheerleaders, drill team, and football players marching from the high school to the lake where a huge fire had been lit. The coaches got up to speak and we cheered our little hearts out. The parade is on a Monday now instead of game day. Again, really? There are boys involved in the homecoming court now. We only had homecoming queens and duchesses. Last but not least, shops around town do not decorate their stores. It was a big deal when I was growing up. All the stores on main street would have their windows decorated for the game.
I think it all comes down to one thing. When your little town begins to grow, people forget about what it meant to be a small town in Texas. Or, this is what happens when a super Walmart moves in.
Anywhoo..
I took my three girls to the parade so they could enjoy some of the festivities. We are going on our annual camping trip, so they will be missing the game.
The day that these three girls are serious, I will cry.
These little girls were probably my favorite part of the parade. They jump roped the whole time. They have some serious rhythm.
Nothing screams homecoming parade like pop warner football players.
The girls had a great time and got lots and lots of candy.
And of course….
My pink sparkly shoes made an appearance.

your girls are too funny – love that silly shot! And your sparkly shoes are the bomb
They make my soul smile!
Your sparkly sneakers are the best! Your girls are so sweet, they look like they’re having a blast- and I hope they’re not serious anytime soon. Silliness is seriously underrated
I love my sparkly shoes. i am always silly, so it is no wonder my girls are!
