My Next Project

Summer vacation has started here at our house, which means I better find something to do when my girls decide to drive me bonkers.

023This is my cedar chest that I have had since I was 16.  It is tradition in my family that when you turn 16, you get a chest to hold your most precious belongings.  Me in my true practical form, asked for something inexpensive and simple.

As you can see this piece of furniture has seen better days.  For about 8 years it bared the weight of a television that weighed a ton.  Now we have a fancy TV like many others, and I finally have her back.  She needs some work, but once I am done with her she will be awesome.

When it is completed, it will sit in the entry way to house shoes, school bags, and purses.

I have finally picked a color scheme, but the details are still up in the air.

The piece is going to be navy, with different shades of turquoise.  White and gold with be the accent colors.  I will keep the hardware dark, so it does not take anything away from the furniture.

I am really leaning towards some form of arrow, or triangle for the pattern.  I have also thought about feathers.

I am hoping it will only take me a week to finish.

I get giddy when I have a project.  After this is a nightstand, a chair, and anything else I can get my hands on.

Happy Friday!
