Christmas Vignette

I have loved putting little bits of Christmas here and there in our home.  My oldest Jenna likes to make fun of me.  She is getting so big.  One day, she will appreciate my silly awesomeness.

007This is a small piece of my mantle.

041I will forever collect Christmas figurines.  I buy a new one every year.  Paper straws, cute pencils, mason jars with bows equals total awesomeness.

040I made some more Christmas trees this year.  I also ventured into the world of snow globes.  Would you believe me if I told you I made that snowglobe for $1? It helps when you are a craft supply hoarder.

This is just pretty.

I am going to be really sad when Christmas is over, and I have to take everything down.  It is going to feel so bare in my house.

Garland + Another Wreath = Awesome!

Ugh, my mouse is broke on my laptop, and I had to run to Walmart at 5 to go get a new one.  Walmart at that time is crazy nuts.

For some reason, I was crazy productive today.  I put away laundry and scrubbed floor boards.  I also cleaned a bathroom and made some wall art.

Really, it was like I was nesting without the baby in my uterus.

I also found a dining room table on Craigslist.  I hope it is available Wednesday, because I work tomorrow.

The most important task I accomplished, was making a couple more Christmas crafts.

First I made another wreath.  There was a wall in my kitchen that was screaming for something Christmasy.

019OMG I love this sooo much.  It is so fabulous.  I have decided that there will always be a wreath on this wall.  Mr. Kell likes the idea.

I used the following supplies.

018Then I made some garland.

This is a from a Martha Stewart Christmas craft that keeps on giving.  Last December, Joann’s was having a sell on Martha Stewart craft packets.  It was full of paper circles to make ornaments. I have used them for a million other things.  Just another reason to love Martha!

Hope everyone has a fabulous Tuesday.  I will be getting up at 0530 when it is 19 degrees outside to take care of people who have had heart surgery.

Fun times people, fun times…

Sometimes You Only Have A Few Bucks

Sometimes, all you have is a few bucks, and an old frame.

I am here to tell you you do not have to spend tons of money to make wreaths that you see on Pinterest.

You could easily visit Hobby Lobby and peruse through the Christmas isles where everything is 50% off.  Then, there is the dollar bins at Target.

The point is, spending lots of $$$$$ does not always give you a beautiful wreath.

Crafting should be fun, you should make what you like.  Not something that is going to give you a ton of hits on Pinterest.

037aI like to call it my Mod Wreath.

I took an old IKEA RIBBA frame and covered it with some shiny silver metallic ribbon.  The red bulbs are actually gift tags. Last, I added some mini ornaments that I found at Target.  10 bulbs for $1.  You cannot beat that.

Squares rock!

It Is The Perfect Day

I have decided that today is the perfect day to start decorating for Christmas and put up our Christmas tree.  I have a day off, and I really need to organize the house.  Nothing gets my house more organized than decorating for the holidays.  Well that, and a visit from my mom.

My house usually vomits Christmas, but this year I am going to keep it happy and simple.

Here are a few pics of what it looked like last year.

I am so excited I almost cannot stand it!

Tuesday

  • I sit here this morning wondering how many other woman my age listen to Ronnie Milsap while they knit?
  • What?  Is it only me?
  • Well, you do not know what you are missing.
  • My girls actually want books for Christmas.
  • There is a huge smile on my face.
  • Once they start talking like a valley girl when they get excited, or break out in dance in the grocery store, then I will know I have done a great job as a mother.
  • I am meeting my big sis for some shopping and lunch.
  • H&M here I come.
  • I hope they have a kids section.
  • All that is on my mind are wreaths, twinkle lights, and garland.
  • Oh the paper garland I want to make.
  • Problem, I do not know where my sewing machine is.
  • Closet or attic?
  • I have another dilemma.
  • Salsa red or black and white?
  • What about navy with a funky turquoise trim?
  • Maybe I should just buy a swatch of fabric first then decide on color.
  • It would be safer.
  • I really want a rug for my living room.
  • I wish Ikea made this one in an 8×10.  I really like the way it looks, it is just too small for the space.
  • So now it is in my dining room with no table.
  • Chalk pens or regular chalk?
  • My mind is in overdrive.
  • I have a crazy tight Christmas budget this year so I am trying to find the perfect homemade gift for everyone.
  • Homemade by me or someone else.
  • I am thinking there will be lots pics of my kids involved.
  • Maybe I can selfishly get an iPhone 5 for myself.
  • That would be very selfish.
  • Have you picked out some angels from your local tree?
  • I have three kids I will be shopping for.
  • I am very excited.
  • Well, gotta go.
  • I am running out of Ronnie Milsap songs, and my scarf is not done.
  • Plus, I really need to get dressed.
  • Christmas shopping starts today!
  • GO!

100 Grand And Pinterest

As I sit here eating a candy bar, waiting to go to my daughter’s Halloween party at school, I have been going through Pinterest looking for Christmas decorating ideas.  Yes, I said Christmas.  I am the gal that when Fall comes around, I go straight to Christmas.  It is my holiday.

New House, new ideas, and I am so excited.  It is exactly what I need to get me out of a funk.  That, and I found another great knitting pattern for some quick knit scarves for gifts.  I love shopping for yarn.  So, if you know me, and I usually get you a gift, please know that it will have been made with some yarn and needles.

We have a three big windows in the living room that bring in a ton of light.  I am thinking the girls and I could make Christmas trees and stars.

Last year I went crazy with Christmas trees.  This year it is going to be garland.  I have so many places to hang them.  Plus they can be an inexpensive way to decorate.  You can find more garland ideas here.

Last, but certainly not least, there will most certainly be fake glittered fruit in my home.  Who am I kidding.  I will probably try to glitter everything!

Have you started thinking about Christmas?  I think it is like 8 weeks away.

On the flipside, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

A Fish Out Of Water

I do not hunt, nor do I fish.  So needless to say, spending two hours at The Bass Pro Shop is not how I would prefer to spend my day.  My little girls were on a mission to buy their daddy presents at his favorite place, and who was I to say no.  So, there we were last Friday along with a thousand other people finding the prefect gift.

The girls wanted to see Santa, but there was a three hour wait.  Ummm No.  We were able to sneak a peak and the girls were satisfied.  We looked at the local fish in the aquarium, and played a shooting game.  The place was a mad house.  I see why my husband spends hours there.  It takes that long just to look at everything.  I will never have to shop at another store again for him.

The girls picked out a tackle box, watch, and a new camouflage hat.  We even ate lunch there.  My girls and I had a great time.

If your other half likes the outdoors, it is a great place to shop.

On our way to find daddy a gift!

We found daddy the perfect gifts!

My girls are awesome!

Daddy loved his presents, and even wore his watch to work today.

P.S.  The Bass Pro Shop does not know me from Adam.  This is not an advertisement.

My Christmas Wishlist

Like most moms, we spend the months and weeks before Christmas making lists of the things we will be buying our friends and family for Christmas.  We create the budget, do the shopping, and wrap all the presents to go under the tree.

I love it!

I love finding that perfect gift for someone.  I listen all year long, and keep notes of my families wants.  I tried to find something special for each and every one.

I was talking to my sister the other day, and she asked me what I wanted for Christmas.  I told her towels, and bed pillows.  She was like what?  I told her it was what I needed.  They are things I need, but never remember to buy myself.  It is perfect.

I know, I am a boring little bird.  The thing is, I do not really want for much.   I do not really need anything.  I use the same kitchen utensils I got when I got married.  I have the same dishes.  I have not bought myself a new pair of shoes in a year.

I prefer to give.  I love seeing someone’s face when they open a gift I bought or made for them.  It is awesome.

With that being said, I was sitting around last night avoiding folding laundry, and decided to create a wishlist.

1.  I think all wishlists should have something just stupid extravagant that you would never ask for.  That is this ring for me.  I have dreamed of this ring since Meg Ryan put it on her finger in this movie.  It is the Victoria Ring from Tiffanys.  Who wouldn’t want a blue box under the tree.

2.  I would love a chair for my living room.  Something funky.  Instagram pic found on Pinterest.

3.  The 50 mm/f 1.8 lens for my canon dslr.

4.  A sexy camera bag.  You can find it here.

5.  I want to be able to take a picture like this. It is so beautiful.  I want to take the time to learn how to use a camera.

6.  I love 80′s movies, and this would look perfect on my wall.  You can find more like it here.

7.  I have wanted a pair of cowboy boots like forever.  I just am too cheap to buy any.  I actually did ask for a pair of them for Christmas.

8.  Le Creuset cookware.  I just love this stuff.  It is so bulky and heavy.  You can find it here.

So there it is, my wishlist for Christmas.

That was fun!

What one extravagant thing would you wish for?

A Christmas Wreath

I am at Ikea today for my monthly fix.  I am hangin with a friend and her little baby.  It is a great place to eat, shop, and plus, it is kid friendly.  I have made a small list of things I need.  Actually, I really do not need anything.  I will be looking for stocking stuffers.

Yesterday, I made a wreath for the front door.  I still had all my fall stuff out.   The door was ready for some Christmas.

The idea started with this.

The ideas started flowing, and it became this.

Have I mentioned I crazy love Christmas?
