The Boyfriend Never Lets Me Down

I have not worn shorts in over 5 years.  I do not like my legs, which is a very vain reason, but still is the reason I do not wear shorts.  I also can never find a pair than does not exaggerate the size of my butt.  I am a pear, and really do not need anything to make my hips  look larger than they already are.

As I get older, I find myself wanting to look nice every now and again, even if it is just a trip to the grocery store.  I want my girls to see me taking the time to look nice when I go places.  I am wanting to break out of my normal summer uniform and add some items that will not only look cute, but will also keep me cool.  I live in Texas, and the summers are not kind.

I was window shopping on gap.com, and found the cutest pair of shorts I have seen in a long time.

Boyfriend Roll Up Shorts
I love the boyfriend style.  Loose in all the right places, but still feminine.  Plus they come in all sorts of cute colors.  They are a little more than I would normally spend on any clothing item, but I can mix and match them with so many things, I think they will be a smart buy.
Untitled #253
You could pair them with a cute blouse, gladiator sandals, gold earrings, and an awesome clutch.  A nice neutral palette to wear for an early dinner alfresco, or a lunch with the girlfriends.
Cute & Casual
You could go cute and casual for a date with the hubby to the movies, or an evening at the driving range.
Outdoor
Finally, you can dress them completely down for a day at the zoo, or some fun at an outdoor concert or festival.

However you wear them, I think they will look absolutely fabulous.

P.S.  Gap does not know me from Adam.  I have always loved them, and dreamed of dancing in one of their fun commercials.  I found these shorts, I like them, Amen.

Wedding Attire

Mr. Kell and I went to his sister’s wedding last night. It was nice to see the Mr. dressed up. He really is a handsome man. I in true Necole fashion waited till the last minute and picked out a dress that ended up not fitting me, so I sent it back. I will be buying another on because it is fabulous.

I decide to go with something that I already had in the closet.

Wedding Attire
You an never go wrong with a good pair of black pants. I bought mine at New York and Company. They fit perfect. Coral earrings, a snake skin clutch, and my gladiator sandals, made me feel all sophisticated.
Being at the wedding reminded me that I will be married for 12 years next week, and how awesome my wedding was.

Siri Needs An Accent, And I Bought Red Pants

Hi, I was not born in Texas, but I have lived here most of my life.  I married a Texan, and my three daughters were born here.  I am an implant.

If you spoke to me you would never know.  I have a very thick Texas accent, that gets thicker depending on who and what I am talking with or about.  Especially if the who is a little old man who needs to get up ad walk after heart surgery.

I blame this accent on the fact that I was in West Texas for 4.5 years of my life attending college.

Last weekend I used my map app that basically has the same voice as Siri, and I have to say I was disappointed.  I think that Siri should share the same accent as the geographic area she is being used.

For Example…

  • It is a riiiiiight.
  • It is pronounced copp-ell, not copple.
  • She should say things like “Honey in 1.5 miles you will need to turn left to access hiiighway 35W.”

If anything, it would provide some good comic relief.

Now for bigger news.

I bought RED pants.  Yes, I bought red pants.  I really cannot believe that I am going to wear color below the waste in the form of a pant.  You see, I am built like JLo, and all I am seeing is a sign for the worlds largest tomato.  Everyone will be disappointed when they look really close and see that it is only my butt.

These are the pants that I bought.  I chose them because I already own a pair of skinny boyfriend jeans, and I love how they fit.  Plus, they were only $25 which is the max I will pay on a pair of pants.

Now to come up will all sorts of different outfit ideas.

Red Pants

I lead a very casual life, and do not have the need for dressy clothes.  The shirts above are pretty much my staples during the Spring and Summer.  I am thinking I want a bunch of graphic tees this year.  Funny sayings, and pictures.  Like this one

Next, I came up with some shoe ideas.  Some I already own, and the others I would like to own.

Red Pants II

I own pair of flip flops.  Yes, you heard correctly, I only own one pair of flip flops.  They are black, and I have owned them for 11 years.  For me, I do not see the purpose of having all sorts of colors, beads, feathers, etc.  I like it simple.  I would really like a pair of ankle boots like the ones in the pic.

Finally, I have to accessorize.

Red Pants III

I really want a fedora.  I think I will buy one for each of my girls and we can all be twinkies when we run around this summer.  Aviator glasses are so cool.  A charm necklace and turquoise earrings will finish it off.  I pretty much always wear the same earrings and necklace.  I just bought this and love it.

So here I sit patiently awaiting the arrival of my pants.  My very red pants.

I hope they fit

If I Could Dress My Man For One Day

Oh, if I could dress Mr. Kell for one day.

Mr. Kell likes to wear jeans, boots, and a t-shirt of the camo variety.  He never deviates from the colors green and blue.  He wears the occasional red polo only because it is one that I bought.  He is not flashy.   He will wear a dress shirt, khakis, and dress shoes if we are going somewhere that calls for it.

I had Mr. Kell sit down with me last night to see what I picked out for him…

A scarf and a hat.  I love these hats.

I love a good plaid shirt.  This plaid is a little too large for my guy.

I asked my husband if he would wear a sweater with a blazer, and he just replied blazer?  Again with the hat and scarf.

This is just hot.  I love vests layered with a sport coat.

Every man should have to wear a tuxedo once in their life.  I hope the time comes soon when I get to see Mr. Kell wear one.  For our wedding, the men wore grey suits.  Super handsome.

Mr. Kell just laughed when I showed him the pics.  Then he asked if he had a pair of jeans and a blue polo clean for work.

Guess what I am doing today?  Heading to JCPenny to buy him some more polos and jeans.  His old uniform pieces are getting old.

Maybe I will surprise him with a little something.

Signed my husband is a handsome country boy.

Seriously Sassy Mama

Hurry Up Spring

I am not the biggest fan of cold weather.  I can never get warm.  I dream of green grass and flowers blooming.  I anticipate sunny skies and rainstorms.  I really am a girl of spring.

So, I decided to put a little outfit together for those first days of Spring.  The days where you still need a pair of jeans and a long sleeve shirt.

Hurry Up Spring
Please know, those pair of TOMS will be a Spring wardrobe staple.

Back To School Fashion

What did you where to school?  For me, are you talking about high school or college?  In high school I dressed with the trends.  My sister always worked for a clothing store, so my mom and dad would take my sister and I and we would fill a rounder with clothes for the school year.  Good times, when your parents bought your clothes.

In college, I would just wear what was comfortable.  What is the point of getting all dressed up when you have to walk over a mile to your class in 50 mph winds in a dirt storm?  I went to Texas Tech which I believe is the second largest campus, and I swear you felt like you were walking for days before you got anywhere.  I have those long walks to thank for never gaining my freshman 15.

Anywhoo.

Mr. Kell was partying it up at a cowboy game last night, so our girls and I sat on the couch ate popcorn and watched a movie.  I also booted up the computer and decided to play on Polyvore.

I put a few outfits together of items I would wear today if I was in school.

What Am I Going To Wear?

The husband and I have a date Friday night.  We have been planning it since January.  My mother-n-law is watching the girls, and the hubs and I are going out to dinner  and staying the night at a hotel.  I even took a day off of work.  I am such a rebel.

Problem…

What am I going to wear?

I have sworn that I will not buy anything new, so I have to delve into the closet to see if anything catches my eye.

Another problem…

I have not bought anything “nice” for a long time.  All the new clothes I buy are casual everyday things.  I like to call it mommy wear!

I had this whole plan to put outfits together, take pictures, and let you decide, but, the pictures looked like crapola.  So, I went to Polyvore and put two outfits together that matched things I have in my closet.

Number One

I am a girl from Texas who likes to wear cowboy boots.

Number Two

This is always how I end up looking when I got out to eat with friends etc.  I call it my Audrey standby.

What do you think? Option one, or option two?

A Bag

So, I am finally caught up with Jane By Design, and it inspired me to come up with a few outfits to go with the new purse I bought.  The stars must have been perfectly aligned because I found a purse and a car all in a matter of days.  Goooooooo me!

It all started  on Monday when I went to the mall to get some new glasses.  While looking for frames I decided to try Warby Parker again and find a pair of shades just for me.  The little bit did not want to go home, so I decide to go to Old Navy to see if they still had t-shirts on sale.  Yeah me, I found some for $6.  I bought one in black and one in bright orange, and set off for the walk to the car.  While doing some window shopping, a coral bag caught my eye at the Clarks store.  What really caught my eye was that it was a bag for over $120 that was on sale for $59.  So yeah, I walked in the store.  After trying on purses, because doesn’t everyone try on purses, I found the most awesome black tote.  Enough compartments for me and three girls, and not to mention if I wanted to bring my big camera, I could.  That sucker was $59, and it is now home with me!  It is a purse I can use all year round, in almost any setting.

Which brings me back to some outfit ideas I came up with.

Office

That necklace is fabulous. If I worked in an office setting, this is totally something I would wear. I would like to mention though that the dress would have to be a tad bit longer. I like my skirts to skim right at the bottom of my knee.

Lunch With A Friend

Here I am going for something casual. I pretty much dress like this daily if I am going somewhere with friends. My converse are pink sequined, but alas I could not find a pick on Polyvore.

FInally, the husband and I have planned a night out sans kids in a couple of weeks.  We are staying in a hotel and everything.  It has been two years since we spent some time together away from our children.  I even took a day off of work, which I rarely do.  I cannot wait.

Dinner With The Husband

I am so loving the color coral, not to mention if I find shoes in this color, they will be mine.

I love putting outfits together.

Happy Wednesday.

What Am I Going To Wear?

My girls are in full force this morning.  Between the Victorious microphone, the Monster High music, and the bickering, I just might go postal.  Did I mention they love my Iphone?  I really need to buy an Ipad.  I am unable to find my phone on a daily basis.

While they have been “getting along”, I have been putting some outfits together for New Years Eve.

1.

New Years Idea

This is idea #1 for the party girl in you. You cannot go wrong with pink sparkles!

2.

New Years

This outfit screams hot and sexy!

3.

Casual New Years

This last one would be perfect for a casual party with friends. I love the boots and leather blazer.

I think I am going to put my girls energy to good use.  Time to clean!

Chicken And Dumplings

Before I talk about this yummy dish, I want to talk about this.

I went to Starbucks this morning.  I never treat myself to Starbucks. If I am going to by myself a treat, it is usually in the form of knitting needles.   What I really need to treat myself to is a new bra.  Just sayin.

That is a cheesy quote on the cup.  I like cheese.

Speaking of knitting needles, I finished this last night.

It is a Jane Richmond pattern that I bought from her etsy shop.  Finished up two others last night also.  I was on  role.  Only four  more to knit for the teachers.  I love this yarn.  I found it at Michaels.  It was on sale 2 for $9.  It is made in Canada.  I love the purple, and think a certain besty of mine is going to L-O-V-E  LOVE IT!  I just hope she skips this post and does not see it.

I once was scared of the cable stitch, but now I have mastered it.

Chicken and Dumplings is on the menu, and I am super in love.

I have memories of the husband and I eating at Applebee’s in Denton.  We were newly married, and I was in nursing school.  That is the first time I ate chicken and dumplings.

The first time I cooked it was last year.  Now, let me mention that my husband comes from a family that knows how to cook.  I mean good ole country cookin.  I am from the midwest.  Anywhoo, I attempted to make some chicken and dumplings, and I do not think the husband was impressed.  I thought it was great.  I made a dumpling with corn meal, and I think it just pissed him of.  He said they were not like any dumplings he had ever eaten.  Oh well, I am going to try again, this time with some old fashioned dumplings.

The two recipes that I like are from here and here.

All that yummy chicken, and dumplings.  I am drooling.

I put together a little something you can wear while eating chicken and dumplings.  I am sure your other half would love to see you across the table wearing this.

Chicken And DumplingsHappy Thursday, I am going to buy my husband a new shirt and sweater. He is going to L-O-V-E LOVE IT!
