I need a date with the husband. We have not been out to dinner with each other just the two of us in years. Yes, I know this is sad. Problem is we are both homebodies. Still though, I really need to find a babysitter so we can have a dinner date.

I want to eat something like this. All that yummy pasta, kale, fontina, and bacon. Oh the bacon. I would add some shrimp for a twist.
A nice salad, some ciabatta bread, and a bottle of reisling. This to me is heaven.
After dinner, maybe I will drag him to see this.
Here is a clip:
He hates going to the movies, but, he will be being dragged to this one!
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Now, for every dinner date, you need an outfit that says BA-BAM!
Here is mine!
Now, I just need to find a babysitter.
Before I talk about this yummy dish, I want to talk about this.
I went to Starbucks this morning. I never treat myself to Starbucks. If I am going to by myself a treat, it is usually in the form of knitting needles. What I really need to treat myself to is a new bra. Just sayin.
That is a cheesy quote on the cup. I like cheese.
Speaking of knitting needles, I finished this last night.
It is a Jane Richmond pattern that I bought from her etsy shop. Finished up two others last night also. I was on role. Only four more to knit for the teachers. I love this yarn. I found it at Michaels. It was on sale 2 for $9. It is made in Canada. I love the purple, and think a certain besty of mine is going to L-O-V-E LOVE IT! I just hope she skips this post and does not see it.
I once was scared of the cable stitch, but now I have mastered it.

Chicken and Dumplings is on the menu, and I am super in love.
I have memories of the husband and I eating at Applebee’s in Denton. We were newly married, and I was in nursing school. That is the first time I ate chicken and dumplings.
The first time I cooked it was last year. Now, let me mention that my husband comes from a family that knows how to cook. I mean good ole country cookin. I am from the midwest. Anywhoo, I attempted to make some chicken and dumplings, and I do not think the husband was impressed. I thought it was great. I made a dumpling with corn meal, and I think it just pissed him of. He said they were not like any dumplings he had ever eaten. Oh well, I am going to try again, this time with some old fashioned dumplings.
The two recipes that I like are from here and here.
All that yummy chicken, and dumplings. I am drooling.
I put together a little something you can wear while eating chicken and dumplings. I am sure your other half would love to see you across the table wearing this.
I am trying to get the rest of my crafting done for the house, so I can focus on my homemade Christmas gifts. I have 5 teachers, and two friends whose gifts have to be done by next Friday. No pressure.
I also have to clothe my husband for his work Christmas party. I just have a shirt to buy for me thanks to an awesome cardigan I found at The Dress Barn. Plus, it was on sale! My husband is scared he will be in a sweater with a collar shirt. What is wrong with that? I have dreamed of my husband wearing that exact outfit. He would be HOT! (He reads my blog, so I am using these words to persuade him).
I got this great idea from here. They are button balls, and they were fun to make. I went to Walmart and bought two bags of buttons in red, white, and a multi-color pack that had green, aqua, and turquoise. The styrofoam balls came in a back of 6 from Hobby Lobby. You can find the stick pins anywhere.
You just place a button on the ball, and stick it in place with a pin. As my daughter would say easy cheesy lemony squeezy.
The finished product Instagram style. I ran out of the darker stick pins, so used the yellow because I knew they would be on the bottom. I did not add a bow, because I was using them on my mantle.
Here is the blue in action. I also made a red one.
I wrapped the left over balls in yarn, and placed them all over the mantle.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
I also made garland to drape along the mantle with the Christmas stockings.
I used some string, snowflake ornaments from Walmart, and this.
I found this little pack of perfectness at The Home Goods Store for $3.99. I did not use it to make ornaments. I am using all the circles for other projects. For $3.99, I have decorated my mantle, windows, and made gift tags. Martha I will say it again. You rock! Have I ever mentioned that my whole wedding was loosely based on Matt Lauer’s wedding that was in a Martha Stewart Wedding edition. Well, it was, and it was perfect.
The pack even comes with its own glue. I could go for days on that. I bought one for for Halloween next year, and as soon as they go on sale, I will be buying more for next Christmas.
Ok, now back to the garland.
I punched a whole in each circle and strung them and the snowflakes like you would fill a string with beads.
Voila!
My mantle is done. I am trying to get the best picture to show at the end of the week.
My tree is perfect.
I love Christmas.
I am totally finishing this movie today. Love lost, love found, romance, kissing, and all during Christmas. The cheese knows no bounds.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The cold weather has me going crazy on polyvore putting together some great winter weather wear.
Lastly, I leaveyou with a Christmas song from The King.
That’s for you Heather!
Happy Hump Day!
First, I spent most of yesterday evening working on a science project with my third grader. It was a further reminder that I could never teach children. We will finish the board up today.
Now, have you been to Starbucks lately? They have all their yummy Holiday flavors out, and their cups are decorated for Christmas. My favorite is the Peppermint Latte. Yummy peppermint goodness. It puts me more in the Christmas spirit, and I did not think that was possible.
It got me thinking about colors, and clothes.
What pretty mochas and lattes.
It reminded me that I need to find an outfit for my husbands Christmas party.
It also reminded me that I am no where near losing the ten pounds I wanted to lose before Christmas.
Oh well.
Don’t ya just love my long title!
I worked yesterday like always. I get up at 0545 and get home at 1930. I am using army time because I am a nurse.
Anywhoo, yesterday was a little different because my sister flew in from Seattle for Thanksgiving. She always stays with me, so I always pick her up from the airport.
She was scheduled to arrive at midnight. That’s right, I said midnight.
Did I mention that I had already been up since 0545? I just wanted to clarify.
When I got home from work, I did not know if I wanted to take a nap, or just stay awake and keep busy till it was time to leave for the airport.
I did both.
You know, it is very quiet in a house when everyone goes to sleep.
If you too have worked all day and need to stay awake to pick your sister up at the airport at midnight, here is a list of a few things you can do.
1.
Watch Pride and Prejudice.
Read Harry Potter.
Knit.
4.
Play on Polyvore.
So, as you can see I lead an exciting life. I am currently trying to recover from lack of sleep, and the sis and I are planning our Black Friday black ops plan.
Hope you have a happy Monday and a crazy happy Thanksgiving!
Before I begin, is it p-e-e-can, or p-u-c-a-a-n?
I say peeeeecan.
I do not like pecan pie, nor do I eat pecan pie.
To me though, I do not think that you can have Thanksgiving without it.
My husband thinks its the greatest.
I love apple pie and chocolate pudding pie with a graham cracker crust.
Yummo!
For those of you who show love to a pecan pie here are a few recipes.
……………………………………………………………………………………………..
If I did like pecan pie, it would be of this variety.
This is what I will be doing today.
Everything must be washed and sterilized.
No one else can get the plague.
I slept on the couch again last night.
My back is killing me.
The silence is awesome after everyone is asleep, and you are alone by yourself watching a cheesy romantic Christmas movie.
I finished scarf/cowl number one. Only six more to go.
I have mastered the cable stitch.
My daughter stole my second piece of cinnamon toast.
The diet gods must have thought I only needed one.
I was playing on Polyvore last night and created my own flash dance look.
I love that movie.
Have a happy and plague free Tuesday.
To me, Thanksgiving would not be Thanksgiving without a big heaping side of stuffing. All that bread, celery, onion, garlic, and whatever else you want to throw in makes my mouth water.
I make the boxed version around here every now and then, but I dream of making some of the yummy ones I see in magazines, and on some of the food shows.
Thanksgiving is usually at my parents house, but I am trying to change that. I want my sister Lynn and I to co-host a Thanksgiving celebration at one of our houses next year. My sister Lynn is uber talented when it comes to ideas for planning a party. She can also cook. I bring my craftiness and sass to get the job done.
I have plans next year,so my mama better watch out!

After looking through a ton of stuffing recipes, and I mean a ton, I found one that really spoke to me. Actually, it spoke to my meat lovin stomach.
It is corn bread stuffing with apples and sausage. It comes from my favorite cooking couple The Neelys. You can find the recipe here.
Here is another good recipe.
This looks so yummy. I just want to kick off my shoes, get comfy on my couch, and watch my favorite Christmas show The Polar Express. That movie makes my heart all warm and fuzzy. I absolutely love it. It is why I will always believe in Santa Claus.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
While sitting on that comfy couch, I still want to look stylish.
That is why I came up with my own version of stuffing that you can wear.
All the colors of corn bread, celery, and sausage, with the hint of apple.
That outfit looks good enough to eat.
All this talk of stuffing got me thinking.
Are you a cornbread or crouton/bread stuffing eater?
Do you call it stuffing or dressing?
My Mondays are all about routines. I pretty much always do the same thing.
What an exciting life I lead. I am grateful for the non-excitement. I love my simple life.

I would like to report that I have clavicles, that you can see! Yep that is right. I am losing some inches. I am not really losing any weight, just inches. I am still a size 10 on the bottom, and a small on top. I am a true pear. Anyways, I stopped snacking, and it has done wonders. I am drinking a ton of water to compensate. If I am hungry during the day, I will eat fruit or some cheese. Yeah me!
Now it is time to exercise.

Our coffee table from IKEA bit the dust this weekend. It has taken all the abuse from three little girls it can handle, and has now gone to coffee table heaven.
I started a craigslist hunt last night. I am motivated to spend no more than $60 and have it by Friday. I am also getting a bench and shelf for my small entry way thanks to a friend from work.
This means that I need to get my booty in gear and start painting some furniture.
Hope the husband likes color!

I was window shopping through the Jcrew site last week, and holy goodness. I am in love with some orange pants and a pencil skirt. It reminded me of how I used to dress pre kiddos.
In honor of my love for the pencil skirt, I decided to put a few outfits together.
OMG! While I am typing this I am watching The A-Team and I just saw Brian Bloom. Remember Brian Bloom? I was so in love with him when I was little. Those blue eyes were so dreamy!
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
I am making something super yummy tonight for dinner.
I love goulash.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
I am going to make my fall wreath today. There were some super sells at Joann’s last week on autumn crafts.
I hope it turns out pretty, so I can talk about it.
Have a Happy Monday!
