There Is Much To Accomplish

I am feeling a little overwhelmed today.  My house is a mess and there are boxes everywhere.   Not to mention the sea of laundry that is all over the floor in front of the laundry closet.

I have probably started 50 lists for everything that needs to be done before we move.  I have three weeks to save up enough to pay double rent for May, have utilities, internet, cable turned on at the new house, and make sure I remember to have everything turned off at our current house.  We are renting, so I have to  make sure I can do things like hang curtains and plant flowers.

Then there is all things I need to fix at our current rental before we move.  The owner does not like the pretty grey walls in the master, so I have to repaint them.  I have to touch up all the trim, and attempt to repair some molding my oldest took a knife to.  Yes, I said a knife.  All I can think is she was attempting to whittle. Then there is the broken window, and the carpets need to be cleaned.  I should probably put a shot of whiskey in my coffee.

I am letting my little bit have ice cream for breakfast because we have been running errands all morning.

I am happy to report that my kitchen is almost packed, along with my closet.  I was gong through some old CDs the other night and I love how random my taste in music is.  George Strait, The Ramones, and an Andy Williams Christmas CD were just three on the list.  Funny!

I walked another three miles yesterday, and my back is paying for it.  I found some yoga stretches on you tube to help.  So far so good. (Please contact a physician before you do any kind of physical activity).  I am not your mother or your doctor.

Or just extracting it from simple things.  For example, admist all my complaining about everything I have to get done, seeing my 6 year olds face light up this morning when she saw me at her awards ceremony made my day, or the way my little bit calls m&ms lemalems.  It really is that easy to be happy!

So, I am going to sit down today and make my final two list.  I am only making two.  A list for the old house, and a list for the new house.

I will not let the devil get me down, and I will always remember this!

I Have A Few Ideas

So, as I have mentioned before, we are moving back home.  Home being where the husband and I grew up.

This house is like a blank canvas.  The walls are a perfect shade of cream framed in bright white molding.  It is the first time I have ever lived somewhere and did not want to paint.  Everything is light and open, and I love it.

I have so many ideas when it comes to decorating.  Being a renter, I am limited in what I can do, but I will work around it.

I thought I would start with the rooms that are visible, and my first choice is the dining room.  I am not a formal dining room kind of gal.  I am casual to the core, so I want the room to be simple, but colorful and funky, like me.

I have a table that has seen better days, but I am sticking with it.  Until I figure out just what I want to do with the table, I was thinking about covering it with a table cloth.

I love the floor length table cloth with the contrasting runner.  I love that this room looks more fun than formal.  I am finding it very difficult to find a floor length oval table cloth, so I guess I better perfect my sewing skills.  I am thinking of doing a color block with the table cloth, then find a great pattern for the runner.

Color, color, color….  What colors am I going to use?

I am leaning towards some of these.

Art work will consist of fabric on canvas, and prints.

I cannot wait for it all to come together.

Time to go and pack more boxes.

I Am An Ax Wo-Man Hear Me Roar!

We got the news yesterday that we got the house.  I am so happy.  I feel like another chapter of our lives is about to start.  It may not be the house we live in forever, but it is the town where our children will finish school.  It is where my husband and I grew up.

Funny, I never really thought I would not live there again after I left for college.  Now, we are closer to all our family and friends, and the husband can fish all his old haunts.  I do not think I have ever seen my husband so excited about the future.  I have already started talking to old friends about play dates.  We actually live in a neighborhood that is full of children.

I cannot wait to take my girls to the square in Denton, and go to the soda shop for ice cream.  I cannot wait for picnics at the lake, and tons and tons of camping!  Now if only my favorite catfish place of all time was still open.

Since we are moving in 30 days, there are many things that need to be done to our current rent home.  I have three girls who are rough like boys, and creative like an artist.  I have walls to touch up, a window to fix, trim to sand and paint, blinds to replace, and carpet to clean.  I have hedges to trim, flower beds to weed, and trees to cut back.

Well, actually, I just have one tree to cut back.

This is a Roses of Sharon bush that has gotten a little bit out of hand.  Please ignore the jungle in the background.  We have had enough rain that would make Noah proud, and all the grass and weeds are growing like crazy.

This was the ax that I wielded.  This picture makes me think of a crime seen.

After cutting branch after branch after branch, this is what I ended up with.

You can see our house numbers and our front door.  You can see the fact that I really need to clean the front porch.  I better add that to our growing list.

I still would like to trim some branches on the top, but I could not find the ladder.

Now, if I knew how to use a lawn mower and an edger, I would be set.

So many things to do before the big move, I better get moving.  Get it?  Moving…..

Ha Ha!!!!

Be Happy!
