The Boyfriend Never Lets Me Down

I have not worn shorts in over 5 years.  I do not like my legs, which is a very vain reason, but still is the reason I do not wear shorts.  I also can never find a pair than does not exaggerate the size of my butt.  I am a pear, and really do not need anything to make my hips  look larger than they already are.

As I get older, I find myself wanting to look nice every now and again, even if it is just a trip to the grocery store.  I want my girls to see me taking the time to look nice when I go places.  I am wanting to break out of my normal summer uniform and add some items that will not only look cute, but will also keep me cool.  I live in Texas, and the summers are not kind.

I was window shopping on gap.com, and found the cutest pair of shorts I have seen in a long time.

Boyfriend Roll Up Shorts
I love the boyfriend style.  Loose in all the right places, but still feminine.  Plus they come in all sorts of cute colors.  They are a little more than I would normally spend on any clothing item, but I can mix and match them with so many things, I think they will be a smart buy.
Untitled #253
You could pair them with a cute blouse, gladiator sandals, gold earrings, and an awesome clutch.  A nice neutral palette to wear for an early dinner alfresco, or a lunch with the girlfriends.
Cute & Casual
You could go cute and casual for a date with the hubby to the movies, or an evening at the driving range.
Outdoor
Finally, you can dress them completely down for a day at the zoo, or some fun at an outdoor concert or festival.

However you wear them, I think they will look absolutely fabulous.

P.S.  Gap does not know me from Adam.  I have always loved them, and dreamed of dancing in one of their fun commercials.  I found these shorts, I like them, Amen.

I Blame Jaws

My husband has always wanted to go on a cruise.  I, not so much.

I have my reasons…..

  • Jaws
  • The Titanic
  • Jaws
  • I cannot get off the boat.
  • Jaws

I have an all consuming fear of sharks.  I will not dip a toe in the ocean, if I cannot sea the bottom.  Just typing this is making me nervous.  I blame the movie Jaws.

I love the water, and I love the ocean, but I will not go past my knees.  All I see is a huge shark coming out of the water, and biting off my arm.

Recently though, I have been thinking about summer vacations.  We have yet to take a vacation as a family anywhere, and we are finally in a financial situation where it could possibly be feasible.

Nothing this summer because of the move, but maybe next year.  The Disney cruise ship now docks in Galveston, and that is only a 6-7 hour drive from our house.  Very doable.

All this thinking about cruise ships has got me thinking about clothes.  What would I pack? What would I wear?

Well, I have put together a few outfits to get me through my days on the ship.

Cruiseware

First, I would want to arrive looking super cute. This is my ode to the nautical look. I super love the shoes.

Fun Lunch With My Girls

Either of these outfits would look great for exploring the shops and history of the places where we stop.

Date Night

This would be great for a special evening with my husband.

Or something like this for an early evening meal with the family.

Evening

Last but not least, I need a swimsuit. I have not been working my butt off the past three months for nothing.

Swimwear

Perfect suits for the mom of three girls. The cowboy hat is a must.

All this outfit planning really makes me want to go on a cruise.  Maybe we can make it happen.  The girls would have such a great time.  I know the husband and I would also.  I would just have to figure out a way to keep him away from the poker tables all day long.  Maybe I should throw a bikini in the mix.

P.S.  I just read that 50 Shades of Grey is going to be made into a move.  I have a recommendation for Mr. Grey.

He would be perfect.  Just sayin.

That reminds me, I have Jane Eyre on the DVR.  The husband is so excited.

Have a happy and blessed weekend!

A Weekend Getaway

It is a holiday weekend, and I am going away for some dearly needed alone time.  Hah!  Who am I kidding.  I work weekends so I can be a stay at home mom, so there will be no weekend getaway for me.

If I did have the opportunity to go somewhere, it would be low key, a place where no one dresses up for anything.  Mountains, water, or the Hill Country would have to be involved.  I would sleep in, and stay up late reading.  I would drink wine, and eat lots of cheese.  Doesn’t this sound great.

The best part of planning a getaway, would be picking out my outfits.

I love everything about this set. Every item can be worn with each other. The shoes rock, and I am lovin me some earrings. I am dreaming with the short shorts, but I am pretending that I have lost the 10 pounds that are glued to my ass.

The dream of a getaway was nice while it lasted, but the house and laundry do not clean themselves.
If they did though, oh the reading and crafting I could get done.
