The End Of A Week

I love the funny things my little bit is saying these days.

For example..

Emily: “Mommy, want to know how I know when I have had too much truit juice?”

Me:  ”How”

Emily: “When I shake my bobo, you can here it losh in my tummy.”

Me:  ”You are so my child.”

One of my patients this week informed me that Florence Nightingale was a lady of the night.  You know, a hooker.  I could not stop laughing.  I went home that night and googled it, and found out that he was full of crap.  It got me thinking, boy could we be making so much more money.  Lol, just kidding.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………

Working all the time now means my google reader was full of about a zillion blogs from the past couple of weeks.  I had to just mark all of them as read just so I could breathe.  It also means that there is less time on Pinterest.  I no longer have any ideas for crafts.  I have completely jumped back over to my left brain dominant self.   Kinda sucks, because I used to have so many ideas.

I think I will just bore everyone with my knowledge of the heart.

It really stinks when your doctor realizes you have not had a tetanus shot in almost 20 years.

An article that talks about the color gray and Ryan Gosling, is an article I need to read.

Jem is getting a makeover.  I am sad.

If I had the ingredients I would so be making this today.

Happy weekend kids.  I will be working and keeping warm.

A Cup, Some Meatballs, Information, And I Should Have Taken Their Man Cards

I have so much to talk about.  It is like a big crock pot full of casserole.

1.  Yesterday was Necole and Marni’s craft corner.  We took a stab at decorating our own coffee mugs with sharpies.

That’s mine.  I decided to use lyrics from my favorite Beatles song.  Not the best, but I like it.  Next time I will by a smooth cup that does not change in shape.

2.  When I grow up, I want be a cute little Italian grandma.  Why you ask?  I love meatballs.

These look yummy!

3.  I found a few interesting things on the internet this week.

4.  Last, I must have missed the memo that said yesterday was daddy bring their daughter to gymnastics day.  There I was working on my grandma skills, knitting a scarf, surrounded by dads.

The best part was their topics of conversation..

First, they had a 20 minute conversation on the pros and cons of Facebook.  Apparently, one of the dads was a musician and was trying to figure out if Facebook or YouTube would be a better platform to be heard.  Then, the conversation got more weird.  They were talking about pregnancy, placentas, toxemia, and bed rest.  I have to say, I was impressed with their correct use of medical terminology.  I could not help but giggle when they started talking about natural family planning.  I totally think it works, I am just not used to hearing a man talk about birth control.  Especially with other men while watching their kids in gymnastics.  It was like listening to their wives talk, which is what I do when they bring their kids to gymnastics.  I should have asked for their man cards.

It was a nice week here at The House of Kells.  Tonight is family night at school.  Hot dogs and games.  The girls are very excited!

Have a great weekend.

Mark And Lexie Forever, Plus Food, Crafts, And An Outfit

I read yesterday that McSteamy will not be returning to Grey’s Anatomy next season.  This means that he can die and Lexie and Mark can walk into heaven hand and hand together.  Just like it was meant to be.

I have been looking through Pinterest for some dinner ideas, and here are a few that have caught my eye.

My girls love when Mr. Kell or I cut up veggies and serve them on a platter.  Adding some chicken would give it a little extra goodness.  This is a Buffalo Chicken Cobb salad from Better Homes And Gardens.  What would I do without them?

These are Baked Chicken and Spinach Flautas.  I cannot get my girls to eat enchiladas, so maybe if it is something they can pick up I will give it a try.  You can find the recipe here.

Besides Pinterest, I like to go to another site called Craftgawker.  It is a site where I can find all kinds of craftiness.  I found a great craft for my girls and I today.

via lisastorms.typepad.com

It is a frame wrapped in strips of craft paper.  I found some inexpensive frames from Ikea while unpacking, and have a ton of paper.  I think it will be a cute addition to the girls rooms.  You can find the tutorial here.

Since all I have to do today is laundry, I may try to make this.

Another cute bracelet to make with embroidery floss.  You can find the tutorial here.

I was playing around on Polyvore, and found a cute dress.  I decided to dress it up for day and night.

Day and Night

Super cute looks!

Ho Hey

I would like to thank Hart of Dixie for the title of my post today.   I saw a commercial for the show and thought I would check it out.  You see, the CW used to be the WB, which brought me shows like Buffy, Dawson’s Creek, Roswell, and the most awesome Gilmore Girls.  I figured that the show couldn’t be that bad.  I was right, and now I am hooked.  I love me some Wade, and cannot wait till April 9 for new episodes.

Now, back to why I would like to thank them.  While previewing some clips on You Tube of the show, I came across a song playing in the back ground.

Do you ever hear a song and you know it is a song you could listen to everyday like forever?  That is how I feel about this song.  The band is The Lumineers, and I am in love!  It is folky, blue grass, grass roots all in one.

One problem.  They have no tour dates in Texas, not even Austin, and everyone plays in Austin.  Oh well, I will just by their new album on April 3, and play the sucka out.

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!

I have made some yummy food so far this week.

I am really enjoying cooking right now.

I want to have a back yard BBQ.  I want to wear something pretty.

Barbecue

It screams Spring!

Happy Thursday!

Yummy Yum Yum

I made the yummiest pot roast last night.  Holy heck it was good!

via rachelray.com

You can find the recipe here.  If you cannot tell, I am not the kinda gal who creates her own dishes.  There are enough talented people in the world to do that.  I will just cook the dishes they create and talk about them.

This was so yummy, and you are able to cook it in one pot.

The only thing I did different, was add a little beef broth just to cover the bottom of the crock pot.  The husband loved the addition of the mushrooms.  Too bad he left his lunch in the fridge, which he does 99.9% of the time.

The perfect meal for a chilly night!

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Another meal I like to cook on a chilly night is potato soup.

*****This is where I mention that this recipe is not health savvy.  There is cheese and cream.  Amen*****

Ingredients

  • Potatoes
  • 2 stalks of celery
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 can cream mushroom soup
  • 1 packet white gravy mix
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Bacon
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Half and Half

Instructions

  1. Chop your celery, onion, and clove of garlic and saute in a pan with olive oil.
  2. While the above is getting all yummy, peel and cut up your potatoes and boil until tender with a fork. I like to cut my potatoes as cube like as possible.  If you do not want to cut potatoes, you can use a bag of hash browns.  It is just as good.
  3. Strain the potatoes leaving a cup of the potato water behind to add to the soup
  4. Add the celery, onion, garlic to the potatoes, and add the can of cream of mushroom soup.  Fill the can from the soup about 3/4 full of half and half and add to the pot.  Cook on low to medium heat.
  5.  Add the gravy mixture following the instructions per the packet.
  6. Add some cheese.  This is completely up to you.  I like alot of cheese so I start with a handful and go from there.
  7. Add potato water as needed for the consistency you like.  I like mine thick and creamy.
  8. Serve with a sprinkle of bacon and cheddar cheese, and voila!

Sometimes, I mash some of the potatoes to make it even creamier.  It is sooooooooo good.

So there you have it, my quickie potato soup.
